Okay, we all know the Simpson- is not known for her, ugh, intellectual contributions to society, but
can you imagine what would have happened if Jessica Simpson would have made an Anti-Semitic
statement? If she would have said anything against Jews or African Americans-
It would have been all over the news, and it would have been on Larry King, Dateline, CNN, you name it the Anti-Defamation League would have been allover it!
But the ADL doesn’t usually get involved in our struggles-at least not the one in Santa Barbara, and if we say anything, the response from most Non- Natives (and some Natives)is, “EVERYBODY USES THAT TERM" or “it is petty -just get over it”
But it is not petty, perpetuating stereotypes is never petty- and you can see how lopsided the world is, when you use the same example and apply it to another ethnic group – How critical would the response be and how large would the public shaming be.
So we have to think about starting our own ADL or acting as if we are the ADL for Native American/Indigenous people

Anyways, we can all work together with the strength of these internet networking sites to educate and dispel stereotypes- and shame those that perpetuate them……we can become organized and start holding these people accountable for thier blantant disregard for our people, and put them in check for having done so.....

Just weeks after splitting with quarterback Tony Romo, the pop singer has infuriated some American Indians with her use of a racial stereotype.
"I'm not an Indian giver," Simpson told http://www.facebook.com/l/;TMZ.com, when asked if she'd insist on the return of a $100,000 boat she'd bought Romo, from whom she split on July 9.
Reaction was swift on TMZ's Web site, and from members of an American Indian watchdog group.
"I cringed when I heard Jessica Simpson comment about us Native Americans. Am I mad!?! I should be, but look at who the comment is coming from," wrote one commenter.
Jacqueline L. Pata, executive director of the National Congress of American Indians, tells http://www.facebook.com/l/;Usmagazine.com that the concept of Indians "giving" and "sharing" with one another is where the term originated, but it somehow morphed into an insensitive phrase that stereotypes native people as ones who give and then take back.
"Most people flippantly use the comment . . . without realizing its true meaning," Pata said.
