The Cherokee Nation opened a new tag office to better serve citizens in the tribe’s southernmost counties. It is located in Sallisaw at 1502 West Chickasaw (near Kerr Blvd. just south of First National Bank) where it will share space with Cherokee Nation Career Services. Sequoyah Schools to Host Youth Cheer Clinic: 10/8/2009 3:26:00 PM

The Sequoyah Schools’ cheerleaders will host a youth cheerleading clinic, October 20-22 from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. for children ages 4 to 12 in the lower level of The Place Where They Play. Cheer clinic participants will learn a cheer, chant and dance to perform at half-time of the Sequoyah football game on October 23.

Junior Miss Cherokee Ambassador sings national anthem during the 2009 Legends in Sports banquet: 10/6/2009

Ashley Miller, Junior Miss Cherokee Ambassador, was invited to sing the national anthem in Cherokee during the 2009 Legends in Sports banquet held recently at the Hard Rock Casino-Tulsa. Here she is shown with National Baseball Hall-of-Famer Lou Brock, who played for the St. Louis Cardinals, and his wife, Jacqueline, during the event.

Cherokee Nation Staff Participate in Poverty Simulation: 10/5/2009 4:11:00 PM

Several group leaders, directors, managers and staff members from different Cherokee Nation departments and some members of the Tribal Council recently participated in a simulation to help them understand the frustrations of poverty.
