Lots of TV time for drug addled Charlie Sheen but ZERO on this disaster(on going)

Click on the photo of this woman / hear her impossible story - how beautiful she 'was'.
Hundreds are sick all over the Gulf region - NONE of this is being reported by the media;
IMAGINE this poor woman and many more like her DYING for no rational reasoning in
a country with supposedly the BEST medical care. ONLY thing is - these folks are all SICK
due to the BP debacle (totally man made disaster) and the spraying of hundreds of
thousands (not permitted in Europe etc) of gallons of highly toxic COREXIT (Gore is one
of the investors!). It is simply criminal that this administration gave over the reporting,
handling, etc of those responsible.

They (BP) were told by the EPA NOT to spray, dump,
COREXIT. BP paid NO attention and the administration did zero to protect the Gulf residents.
While we (US) are busy sending all kinds of aid - medical supplies to Japan/ folks in the
GULF cannot get the needed BLOOD tests showing the toxins, benzene etc that is killing
them. Numerous others have FLESH eating disease, acquired simply by cleaning seafood
or splashing in the Gulf/ People are dying most especially those with auto immune issues/
asthma - arthritis - diabetics - etc. A little boy (only son) age 12 died after he simply (visiting)
walked in the surf.

He had a small scratch on his foot - entryway to STAPH flesh eating.
Google - Gulf Residents Dying of BP GULF disease & Flesh Eating disease in Gulf Residents.
CRIMINAL: The President pretending (front page photo) that it was SAFE to visit
the GULF for vacation. The photo of him (taken by White House photographer - no news
media allowed) and his youngest daughter was NOT taken in Gulf waters but in an inlet
bay (Naval) of FRESH water. God help us eh if BP on top of destroying the entire ecosystem
would be found guilty of KILLING people with the use of this toxic dispersant. But let us
protect corporate hucksters!!

A woman living on a barrier island off New Orleans
called C-Span this am reporting these deaths and the fact that NOBODY - in government,
not the EPA - Health Dept - CDC were helping these sick and dying people. The guest,
some yahoo goober from a think tank didn't bother to respond. This woman below reminds
me of a local woman (NH) who resided in the PLUME ( map from state DES) from a toxic
incinerator on the edge of town. Doctor after doctor - treatment $$$ after treatment/
but by God, nobody was going to address the fact that toxins, such as lead, mercury,
cadmium, carcinogenic dioxin (80 other chemicals); spewing over a town 24/7 might
be to blame for the areas numerous cancers - auto immune diseases, learning disabilities,
birth defects. Per usual the citizen is left to battle it alone (state does ZERO) with the
costs of treatment/ death in some cases. JM

Beautiful barb in a ballerina pose. She and Darrell were in Yellowstone, hanging out with rutting wild buffalo and powerful wild winds. Photo by Darrell. Click photo for larger image.

Most of you are aware that our dear friend, barb abramo, passed away on Sunday morning. She was surrounded by eight members of her buffalo family, and her parting from This World was gentle and quiet. She is now reunited with the love of her life, Phil Morton. We thank you all so very much for the many heartfelt prayers, emails, cards and phone calls you have sent and continue to send. barb was loved and respected by so many people, and an inspiration to us all. A Brooklyn-raised Sicilian, barb always gave voice to what she believed in, and she was a tenacious advocate for wild buffalo. barb will be with us and the buffalo always; every time we look into the eyes of a buffalo, she will be there; in the wind that moves the bull's thick, shaggy hair, she will be there; in the dance of a buffalo calf she will be there.... and in all our passion, courage and strength as we press on for the buffalo, she is with us always. Donning her favorite color purple, with her gorgeous mane of long silver hair, she will toss back her head, her laughter echoing through the valleys and plains when the buffalo again roam free.

In response to our email last week, asking for prayers for barb, BFC supporter Eleanor July sent this beautiful photo so that this bull could help watch over barb. Click photo for larger image.

* Update from the Field

Massive and handsome, this bull was relaxing on the Gardiner school football field. Photo by Stephany. Click photo for larger image.

On Thursday and Friday, over sixty wild buffalo that were captured in Yellowstone National Park's Stephens Creek buffalo prison Wednesday morning, were crammed into small livestock trailers and transferred to another jail: the vacant fenced-in areas of the Corwin Springs buffalo quarantine facility, where they will remain until the government hazes them back into Yellowstone after Spring green-up. BFC volunteers in Gardiner followed the livestock trailers north along Highway 89 as they carried our shaggy friends to their new prison.

This particular group of buffalo, moved from the Stephens Creek trap to the Corwin Springs trap, was in Stephens Creek for a very short time, yet many of them sustained injuries from their captivity and rough human handling. Photo by Stephany. Click photo for larger image.

As the trailer doors opened, the buffalo fled. We were shocked at the condition of these buffalo who had been in the Park's trap for no more than 48 hours. They were soaking wet and muddy, visibly frightened, and some were showing large areas of red skin, where their wooly hide should have been. Each of the buffalo displayed an oval-shaped, white tag with a number. One group of about twenty buffalo - mostly young ones - were put into a small, muddy corral, where there is no grass at all.

In the wild, buffalo rarely, if ever, cause injury to one another. These kinds of wounds are seen when the government traps and tortures them. Photo by Stephany. Click photo for larger image.

The Stephens Creek buffalo prison still holds captive over 560 buffalo. Many of these buffalo have been in the trap since late-January. Already three buffalo have died in the trap, and one buffalo suffered a miscarriage. With the condition of the buffalo we saw coming away from Stephens Creek after two days on the inside, we are extremely concerned about the welfare of those who have been there for almost two months. BFC has been pressing Yellowstone National Park to let us in to see the buffalo and how they are fairing in there. After weeks of repeated requests, Yellowstone finally complied, and today, March 17, the Park will allow a media tour of the facility and BFC will be there. Simultaneously, The Longest Walk - a group of powerful Native Americans walking a 5,000 mile journey through the country to raise awareness of diabetes - will be travelling through Gardiner, to visit the buffalo, pray for those who are confined, and share some time with BFC. We will walk in solidarity with The Walkers, for healing that can come through the respectful return of the buffalo.

This bull stands guard over his fallen comrade, showing another face of the strong family ties buffalo have. Photo by Stephany. Click photo for larger image.

BFC volunteers weren't the only eyes on the tragic situation of the buffalo inside the government traps. Some Nez Perce tribal members were also bearing witness, and frustrations are clearly growing. Nez Perce hunting parties were in the area for the last weekend of their buffalo hunt, but for days there were no buffalo available to harvest, and as hunters looked towards the traps, they knew the main reasons why. On Sunday, however, seven bulls walked up into the hunt zone, and six of them were taken by hunters. The seventh bull that was left broke our heart; he was younger and he stood by his fallen comrade, and later bedded down next to him while he was still whole. The Nez Perce hunt is now over for the season. BFC Gardiner patrols had the honor of sharing an evening with a couple of Nez Perce Conservation Enforcement officers over the weekend, and we watched our DVD and talked about all things buffalo. Handfuls of BFC footage went back with them to be shared with other tribal members. Change is coming.

This bull group has been walking the land without any trouble from government agents. Times are slowly changing. Photo by Stephany. Click photo for larger image.

Bull buffalo north of Yellowstone's boundary, as well as those that have been captured, are being shown a little lenience from government officials. At least six adult bulls were released from Stephens Creek last week, and the Park has said they will "opportunistically" release others. A handsome lot of bulls that have not been trapped have been fascinating residents and passers by as they roam around some lands north of Yellowstone, and they are being left alone. Change is definitely afoot for the migratory giants. The talk between Yellowstone and Montana over habitat north of the park for buffalo is moving forward, though there still haven't been very many details disclosed. One of the very sensible things being considered include stronger fencing for the few area cattle herds. The government is finally talking about opening lands north of the Park out to Yankee Jim Canyon, about ten miles from Yellowstone's boundary, but it will include fencing and cattle guards to prevent wild buffalo - and likely other migratory wildlife - from migrating further north, into what Governor Schweitzer likes to call the buffalo's "drop dead zone." One cattle guard has already been put in place on Highway 89. This small opening of habitat will offer some reprieve for the buffalo. Buffalo will roam, and they will definitely continue to push the man-made boundaries, and BFC will continue to press on for their right to do so.

barb, you are forever with us every step of the way!!!

* WHAT YOU CAN DO

If only the buffalo could set themselves free like this calf did, but they need your voice! Take action to set the buffalo free! There are many things you can do that will make a big difference for our shaggy friends. Photo by Stephany. Click photo for larger image.

1. Contact Yellowstone National Park Superintendent Dan Wenk and welcome him to Yellowstone, tell him to set the trapped buffalo free, pull out of the Interagency Bison Management Plan, stop harassing and killing wildlife and work towards habitat-based solutions for America's last wild buffalo! Please also tell him to have the Park set up a web cam at the Stephens Creek buffalo trap so that we can keep an eye on our friends. Take Action Now!

2. NEW! Please contact Gallatin National Forest Supervisor Mary Erickson and ask her exactly what the Forest Service is doing to fulfill their legal mandate to provide year-round habitats maintaining wild buffalo populations. Hundreds of thousands of acres of National Forest habitats exist for wild buffalo contiguous to Yellowstone National Park's north and west boundaries. These critical public lands are a small part of the buffalo's ancient migrations to wintering range and spring calving grounds in the Paradise, Gallatin and Madison river valleys. Please ask Supervisor Mary Erickson and the U.S. Forest Service to manage habitats to support these gentle, nomadic giants. Supervisor Mary Erickson needs to stand up to the state of Montana and no longer allow the state to dictate where and when buffalo are allowed to roam our National Forests. Ask her as Supervisor of the Gallatin National Forest to reallocate habitat permitted for grazing cattle to support the keystone ecological roles migratory populations of wild buffalo fulfill on land that is their birth right. Email: mcerickson@fs.fed.us Phone: 406-587-6758

3. Contact your Members of Congress and urge them to intervene with the Park on your behalf and to support federal funding to protect America's last wild buffalo and their habitat. Ask them to support the re-direction of funds wasted on the Interagency Bison Management Plan towards habitat-based solutions that honor the wild integrity of our national heritage. Write your Representative Write your Senators

4. Contact Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer and THANK HIM for the 90-day stay of execution, tell him he did the right thing. Please also remind him that wild buffalo must be allowed to access habitat in Montana. Brucellosis is not the issue, but habitat for wild buffalo is the solution. Remind him that until Montana embraces and respects wild, free-roaming bison, the state will continue to be globally shamed by these actions against America's last wild buffalo! Remind him that tourism sustains Montana. governor@mt.gov 406-444-3111

5. Sign BFC's Petition to National Park Service Director Jon Jarvis urging him to abandon the failed Interagency Bison Management Plan. Sign the petition.

6. Write Letters to the Editor to newspapers in your region to help raise awareness and bring an end to the unjust treatment of America's last wild buffalo. Write on for the buffalo!

7. Vote for wild buffalo and all wildlife with your money by Boycotting beef.

8. Volunteer with BFC by joining us on the front lines! volunteer@buffalofieldcampaign.org 406-646-0070

9. Watch & Share This Video to inspire yourself and others to Protect the Wild Bison

THANK YOU! Please spread the word to save these herds by telling everyone you know what is happening to the country's last wild buffalo and what they can do to . Knowledge is power!

Government of Nunavut
Uranium Consultation

March 15, 2011

Dear Premier Aariak,

Thank you for inviting the opinions of Nunavummiut on uranium.

I am writing to you as a parent, a physician and as someone who cares
deeply about the future of Nunavut. I have not been shy to speak out
against nuclear energy and specifically uranium mining. Part of my
professional role as a doctor is to advocate for the health and well
being of the people I care for, and it is definitely my job as a
parent to do this.

While I do understand fully how important it is for us to build job
opportunities and revenue, there are few legal industries that are so
deeply unethical that I feel Nunavut should never consider getting
involved with them and they are uranium, military arms, and the
tobacco industry.

As a member of Physicians for Global Survival (the Canadian chapter of
the Nobel prize winning group International Physicians for the
Prevention of Nuclear War), being wary of nuclear energy in all it
forms comes easily to me. At the PGS website (www.pgs.ca) you can read
about why many physicians are calling for a ban on uranium mining.

The College of Family Physicians of Ontario has called for a ban on
uranium mining as has CAPE (Canadian Association of Physicians for the
Environment). The provinces of British Columbia and Nova Scotia have
a permanent ban on uranium mining because that is what their voting
public has demanded. As you well know, Greenland maintains its ‘No
Uranium stand’ while other parts of Inuit Nunaat have current
moratoriums or are struggling with the issue.

The current map of Uranium mines in Saskatchewan matches fairly
closely with rural Aboriginal communities, who like Nunavut
communities were looking for ways to foster economic independence.

But why is it okay for such a toxic industry to be accepted on
Aboriginal land, when the Canadian mainstream in BC and Nova Scotia
and everywhere else in the country have said ‘no way, not on our
land’?

Is uranium safe for human health? As defenders of the industry with
their glossy brochures will also demonstrate, one can find a study to
support any argument. A study in India called the “Jadugoda Uranium
Study” found statistically significant increases in the rates of birth
defects, cancer deaths and premature deaths near the uranium mine.
The
isotopes in the tailings of any uranium mine developed in Nunavut
could well add to our already high rates of cancer. Can we say it
will definitely cause more cancer deaths? No. But one of the guiding
ethical principles in medicine is : first, do no harm. It is a
precautionary approach that should be taken with all forms of
development in Nunavut.

It is not possible to prove that uranium is safe for the environment,
and it is not possible to prove that uranium mining, or nuclear power
generation are safe for human health.

Just look to Fukushima. A Japanese physician friend of mine in Tokyo
wrote me this week, from his country which is reeling after the
tsunami from the additional unfolding nuclear disaster, and finished
his email with “I hope you do not have nuclear power in your city”.

There is also NO WAY to be sure that plutonium, one of the breakdown
products of uranium, will not be diverted for illegal means and used
to develop nuclear weapons. It is true that there are huge poorly
safeguarded stores of plutonium in Russia but just because Canadian
plutonium (from uranium) is less likely to be stolen or sold
illegally, does not mean it could not happen.

It is important to think about the motivations of the groups being
given a voice at the Nunavut uranium consultations (and the funding
behind them). If you are a mining company or lobby group, the
motivation is money (= uranium mining IS safe). If you are a
physician, your motivation is health (= uranium mining IS NOT safe).

I hope that you are hearing from many Nunavummiut on this important
issue. For many who are struggling with literacy, keeping their
children safe and fed, and many other challenges, being able to take
the time to become informed and voice opinions about uranium is
neither possible nor a priority. It is up to you and other elected
officials to make decisions in the best interest of future
generations. It is an incredible opportunity to speak truth to power,
and there is no doubt that your government will be remembered for the
decision that is made. Please, say no to uranium in Nunavut.

Peace is a process

The Peace lies in the consensus process. In the Law of Peace (kayanerakowa), the people are divided into clans which follow the women bloodline. The clans meet and discuss an issue until they get “one mind” or 100 %. If we cannot become of one mind, the issue goes back into the well for a later discussion. Each individual mind is important to the whole in the clan system, so everyone has their say on issues that affect us all. That gives a wide perspective on all issues and allows us to become of one mind. The main principle is to end the war problem here on Mother Earth, for as long as we are engaged in the endless slaughter of our own kind we will never evolve spiritually. This is about the evolution of our species as spirit beings here on Earth.
In the Canadian consensus process, you only need to reach 51% on issues that affect us all. This system is designed to always be divisive and that is why we will never have peace, until we correct the error in the consensus process. If the Canadians adopted kayanerakowa , the Senate could be used as the Council of Women and the House of Commons as the council of men. The people would have to be set up in a clan/matriarchal system because we all come from our mothers. This allows the true power of the women to come to its proper place, they are the guardians of the children and the communities, the women business. The interaction between the communities is men business and all are guided by the principles of acknowledgement, respect and peace directly from kayanerakowa.
Last summer the people of Toronto saw what a total police state looks like under the 51% (corporatism) divide and conquer strategy. This summer let those same people start forming their clans and become of ONE mind by following the white roots of peace to their source and adopting the constitution of peace. The Canadian constitution has never been ratified. We saw last year when they go hot, there is no Bill of Rights in Canada.
The election system here is always a foregone conclusion. The Liberals and Conservatives appoint the senators who answer only to the Bankers. The Liberal and Conservative parties both answer to the shareholders of the corporatocracy and their main job is to continue the illusion of freedom to us, the slaves. The G20 Toronto incident in 2010 was a massive psychological operation set up by the “real rulers” to guage how the police will turn against their own people in a Western “civilized” society. When the police wake up and understand how they are helping to enslave their own grandchildren under this consensus system, the real end of these autocrats will happen.
In all of my deeds, my end goal is to promote and spread the Council of the Great Peace. I say to you reading this now; open your mind and become part of the Peace.
Unity, Strength, Peace,

Uranium mining rejected
at Iqaluit public forum

Inuit attack Nunavut Tunngavik
for supporting development

CBC website, March 18, 2011

Many Nunavummiut who attended a uranium forum Thursday night said they
do not want uranium mining in Nunavut, while some even attacked the
territory's Inuit group for supporting uranium development.

More than 120 people in Iqaluit came out to the public forum, which
was organized by the Nunavut government as it works on developing its
own policy on uranium mining in the territory.

After hearing presentations from eight panellists on the topic, most
of those who came up to the microphone made it clear that they want
nothing to do with uranium mining.

"For me, there's about four industries that we should never go into,
and they're asbestos, uranium, the tobacco industry, and building of
weapons," said Madeleine Cole, a family doctor in the city.

The territorial government wants to establish its own position on
uranium amid growing interest in Nunavut from mining and exploration
companies.

NTI BLASTED FOR OWNING SHARES

Areva Resources Canada wants to build a uranium mine at its Kiggavik
site, 85 kilometres west of Baker Lake in Nunavut's Kivalliq region.
The company's proposal is currently in the regulatory process.

Some at Thursday's forum berated Nunavut Tunngavik (NTI), the
territory's Inuit land-claim organization, for supporting uranium
mining and having shares in two companies that are exploring for the
heavy metal.

"I did not agree as a beneficiary, as a trust member, to own shares in
a uranium company," Iqaluit resident Susan Enuaraq, an Inuit
land-claim beneficiary, said during the forum.

Keith Morrison, a senior advisor with Nunavut Tunngavik, told the
audience that the organization received shares in exchange for issuing
exploration agreements to those companies. No money was paid out for
those shares, he added.

Sandra Inutiq, a spokesperson for the advocacy group Nunavummiut
Makitagunarningit, accused Nunavut Tunngavik of denying its
pro-uranium stance and pretending to give out balanced information on
the topic.

"The spirit and intent of the land-claim agreement is not being
fulfilled," Inutiq said. "We expected, as Inuit, that we would
participate in decision-making."

GROUP WANTS PLEBISCITE

Nunavut Tunngavik president Cathy Towtongie recently said she wants to
review her organization's uranium mining policy, which since 2007 has
supported uranium projects in Nunavut as long as they are
environmentally and socially responsible.

Inutiq said her group wants a Nunavut-wide plebiscite so Inuit
land-claim beneficiaries can vote on whether the group should support
uranium mining.

But Nunavut Conservative Senator Dennis Patterson said a plebiscite
would not respect the land claim, particularly for Areva's Kiggavik
proposal.

"It would probably not be in good faith for NTI to change the rules
for a project that has already begun," Patterson said.

The Nunavut government is holding another public forum in Baker Lake
on March 30 and 31. It will then go to Cambridge Bay on April 12 and
13.

Those who cannot attend the meetings in person can also send in
comments online, or by email, phone, fax or postal mail

those shares, he added.

27 Signs That the Nuclear Crisis in Japan Is Much Worse Than Either the Mainstream Media or the Japanese Government Have Been Telling Us

How much of a threat is the nuclear crisis in Japan? That question is on the minds of millions of people around the globe tonight. Unfortunately, the Japanese government and the mainstream media have both been doing their best to downplay this crisis. Even though there have been massive explosions at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear facility, authorities in Japan have still been very stingy with information and they keep insisting that the situation is under control. But the situation is not under control.
In fact, it just seems to get worse with each passing day. Radiation levels are now incredibly high at the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex and the radiation cloud is starting to spread. Radiation levels in Tokyo are already 10 times above normal levels, and there are reports in the international media that some people have begun to flee the city. It is imperative that the Japanese government tell the truth about what is going on because this could potentially affect the health of millions of people. There are over 12 million people in the city of Tokyo alone. If this nuclear crisis continues to get worse it could potentially end up killing more Japanese than the tsunami just did.
Yes, things really are that serious.
We are not just talking about a repeat of Chernobyl.
We are possibly talking about "many Chernobyls".
It is somewhat understandable that the Japanese government and the mainstream media do not want to panic the public, but the reality is that people need the truth about what is going on.
Unfortunately, it is not likely that the Japanese government or the mainstream media are going to "change their stripes" overnight, so in order to try to get an idea of what is really going on we need to look at the clues.
Sometimes it is much more important to watch what people are doing rather than what they are saying.
For example, a significant number of foreign governments are now evacuating personnel from Tokyo.
Why would they be evacuating if there was no threat?
Posted below are 27 signs that the nuclear crisis in Japan is much worse than either the mainstream media or the Japanese government have been telling us. When you take all of these clues and you put them together it really does paint a frightening picture....
#1 Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan is urging all people living within 30 kilometers of the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear facility to stay indoors.
#2 Andre-Claude Lacoste, the head of France's Nuclear Safety Authority, says that the containment vessel surrounding the No. 2 reactor at Japan's Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear complex is "no longer sealed".
#3 Radiation levels in Tokyo are already 10 times above normal levels.
#4 Reuters is reporting that some residents of Tokyo are already starting to flee the city.
#5 Radiation levels in one city north of Tokyo, Utsunomiya, were recently reported to be 33 timesabove normal levels.
#6 Radiation levels in the city of Saitama have been reported to be 40 times above normal levels.
#7 According to Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan, the "possibility of further radioactive leakage is heightening."
#8 The Japanese government is admitting that radiation levels near the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex are very harmful to human health.
#9 According to the World Nuclear Association, exposure to over 100 millisieverts of radiation a year can lead to cancer. At this point the level of radiation being measured right outside the number 4 reactor at the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex is 400 millisieverts per hour.
#10 A U.S. Navy crew that was assisting in relief efforts was exposed to a month’s worth of nuclear radiation in just a single hour.
#11 According to the U.S. Navy, low levels of radiationhave been detected at their bases in Yokosuka and Atsugi.
#12 The USS Ronald Reagan recently detectedsignificant levels of radiation 100 miles off the Japanese coast.
#13 The operator of the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex has pulled out 750 of the 800 workers that were working at the facility.
#14 The French embassy in Tokyo is advising French citizens to leave the city.
#15 The German embassy in Tokyo is advising all German citizens to leave the country entirely.
#16 German technology company SAP is evacuating their offices in Tokyo.
#17 Austria has announced that it is moving its embassyfrom Tokyo to Osaka due to fears about the radiation.
#18 Finland is urging all of their citizens to leave Tokyo.
#19 The Czech military is sending planes to Japanspecifically to evacuate the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.
#20 Air China is canceling many flights to Tokyo.
#21 The Chinese Embassy has announced that it will beevacuating all Chinese citizens from the Miyagi, Fukushima, Ibaraki and Iwate prefectures.
#22 Russia is making preparations to evacuate civilians and military units from the Kuril Islands.
#23 Physicist Frank von Hippel recently told the New York Times the following about this disaster: "It’s way past Three Mile Island already".
#24 The president of France's nuclear safety authority says that this crisis is now almost as bad as Chernobyl was....
"It's clear we are at Level 6, that's to say we're at a level in between what happened at Three Mile Island and Chernobyl."
#25 There have been reports of extremely high radiation at another nuclear facility in Japan. It has been reported that at the Onagawa nuclear plant radiation that is 700 times the normal level was detected at one point.
#26 One anonymous senior nuclear industry executive told The Times Of India that Japanese power industry managers are "basically in a full-scale panic" and that "they don't know what to do".
#27 It is also being reported that there were over600,000 spent fuel rods stored at the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex. Most of these rods were apparently storednear the top of the 6 reactor buildings. There have already been major explosions at three of those buildings. It is now feared that there is now nothing to prevent many of these spent fuel rods from releasing radiation into the atmosphere. That is really, really bad news.
So is there a threat that nuclear radiation from Japan could reach the United States?
Well, actually everyone agrees that radiation could reach the United States. The controversy is whether or not it will be enough to be harmful to human health.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is admitting that it is "quite possible" that nuclear fallout from this disaster could reach the United States. In fact, Nuclear Regulatory Commission spokesman David McIntyre saysthat there could already be radiation from Japan over America....
Right now it's quite possible that there could be some radiation floating over the United States.
But most government officials in the U.S. are insisting that there is "no threat" to the health of American citizens from this crisis at this point.
So how would nuclear radiation from Japan get transported to the United States?
Well, if radiation released by a damaged nuclear reactor got up into the jet stream, the first major land mass that it would encounter would be North America. In fact, the jet stream commonly takes air from over Japan directly over the west coast of the United States. The following video demonstrates this fact beautifully....
So is there any reason for those of us living in the United States to be concerned?
According to the Japanese government, the U.S. government and the mainstream media there is not.
But do you believe them?
The truth is that they seem much more concerned with keeping the public calm rather than telling the public the truth.
Radiation levels are increasing all over northern and central Japan. People are starting to leave Tokyo and other major cities in the region. Foreign governments are evacuating personnel. Fires continue to erupt at the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex. The authorities in Japan seem to have no idea how to solve this crisis.
If even one of those damaged nuclear reactors fully melts down it is going to be a complete and total nightmare. If you live in an area that could potentially be affected by nuclear radiation from Japan you might want to start figuring out how you and your family are going to handle this crisis.

From The Ga. Sierra Club
April 16th -- Savannah River Boat Trip (Savannah) Led by Judy Jennings, Steve Willis and Karen Grainey. The US Army Corps of Engineers is poised to move forward on a plan to dredge the Savannah River to make it 48 feet deep in order to accommodate bigger container ships and expand the Savannah Port. Participants on this trip will get to see the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge and learn what they can do to protect these rare tidal fresh water wetlands.

Notice they know all about the wet lands but nothing about the sacred sites being desecrated.
Maybe someone could follow their link and let them know.

The Canadian Shield

March 22, 2911 Volume I, Issue 3

Professor Milloy and the TRC (Typical Rotund Canadian)
If you were the Prime Minister of Canada creating a Commission in the grand old tradition of the “Royal Commission,” that anachronistic device imported from Mother England in order to sweep a major problem under Parliament's broadloom for four or five years, you'd want a chairman and a director of research to make the whole thing legit.
If the Commission in question was The Truth and Reconciliation Commission, you couldn't be too careful, because the perps in this exercise were and are (1) the three major church organizations that bamboozled the government into granting them tax-free status since lo! Canadian income tax became a “temporary wartime measure” in 1917, their qualification being that they are just abaft of godliness, and (2) your government itself, l'eminence grise behind the entire rez horror story.
The TRC was anointed to report on 141 church-run Indian Residential Schools which, over 120 years, managed to bury at least 50% (according to the government's own medical director in 1907) of the hundreds of thousands of kids kidnapped legally – because Ottawa told them to - by the Musical Ride Boys, and delivered to the tender loving care of assorted missionaries, priests, nuns, and other pedophiles. So who better to chair this $68 million stage play than a distinguished alumnus of one of those schools, preferably with a proven record of ratting out the other kids and later becoming learned in the white man's law.
You'd appoint Mr. Justice Murray Sinclair. Not as first choice, that is, but as a hasty replacement for the original native and legally trained nominee, Mr. Justice LaChance, who resigned three weeks later (to spend more time with his family) when he got around to reading the mandate handed to him, i.e. to do everything BUT name any bad guys, churches or most emphatically the government itself. Much less bring them to justice, Mr. Justice.
As for the academic research director, the script called for an academic, not from a leading institution (no McGill or U. of T., please) in order to avoid unquestioned academic discipline (which might be embarrassing) yet to maintain that grand old Canadian tradition of devoting five years to studying a problem, with no particular penchant for recommending that anything be done about it. (In American politics, this is known as punting on first down, but they don't understand Canadian football with our 55-by-110 yard field, with much more room for evasiveness.) By default, you'd come up with Professor (Dr., yet) John Milloy of Trent University.

In an interview with journalism doyen Peter Mansfield, Mr. Justice Sinclair gasped that he was surprised to discover that “thousands had died... many of disease and (get this) issues of neglect of care.” It sounded as though it had been dictated by Stephen Harper himself.

This should have been great copy for Peter, but he failed to take advantage of it, in the best Canadian journalistic style. Think about it. A supposedly brilliant establishment Indian, in the best tradition of Flyin' Phil Fontaine, a graduate cum laude of the rez himself, learned in the white man's law, had not known what Harper forgot to mention – that between 50,000 and 75,000 children had died, were buried somewhere or other, while 61,000 survived these charnel houses?

Sinclair then replied to Mansbridge's unasked question concerning native testimony with a real tear-jerk: “even when they decline to speak to us, there is pain...” Actually, the pain derived from the TRC ground rules that (a) no native survivor got to talk until he/she had taken a short course in how and what to testify, (b) he/she was allowed five minutes to pour out the history of their degradation, and (c) they were warned not to accuse, blame or indeed NAME any person, church or (especially) government.

“It has taken many generations,” pontificated Mr. Justice Sinclair, “for all this to happen; it will take many more for it to be healed.”

He has a point there, if the TRC moves with the speed of most Commissions.

Actually, it could be resolved very rapidly and effectively if the Canadian government, the TRC and its spokesprof Fats Milloy, the CBC and the tax-exempt churches were to make a few basic moves, such as (1) admit that our half-assed British colonial system fostered the Indian Act, an evil, corrupt law that enslaved six generations, and change it; (2) admit fully and honestly that the atrocities, including genocide, took place, (3) stop dishing out millions to corrupt tribal councils and chiefs, who live in Mercedes-driven splendor while the people continue to starve, enjoy an unemployment rate of 36% and a suicide rate 10 times the national average.

As Kahentinetha Horn has observed, “It could all be so simple.”

As for Milloy, some five years ago he was the resident expert when Reverend Kevin Annett delivered a lecture at Trent University. But let's let Kevin tell it:
“The subject that night was the unexplained deaths of 50% of the Indian children attending those schools. As soon as that was mentioned, Milloy jumped to his feet and declared:

“'All that’s been debunked!'

“I stared at the guy, and thought his ejaculation was a little odd, considering that he himself had cited the 50% rate in his own book, 'A National Crime,' an expression, not surprisingly, that he had lifted from the report of Dr. Peter Bryce, the Canadian government medical director in 1907, who incidentally was fired for his honesty. I reminded John of this fact and he looked like he had just swallowed a large jalapeno. He sputtered,

“'Just because so many died doesn’t mean it was deliberate!'

“No Name Research (NNR) digs all around an ugly truth without mentioning such inconvenient details as who did what to whom, how, and when. Milloy's NNR is being inflicted on the loyal taxpaying public most recently with the latest extravagant circus run by the TRC in Vancouver: an event as obese and shortsighted as John Milloy himself, who helped set it up.

“Asked by an atypically daring journalist about children who died in Indian residential schools, Milloy replied glibly,

“'There’s some talk of graves here and there, but we’re leaving them pretty much undisturbed.'

"Pretty much?

“In a similarly undisturbed manner, a battery of pale faced scholars almost as corpulent as John gathered at a head table in front of the assembled $500 a pop delegates to carefully camouflage and chloroform the bloody fact of dead children by reducing them to items on that day’s agenda, under such scholarly subject titles as 'Modes of Discourse in Ethnographic Studies of the Impact of Religious Imperialism on Canadian Indigenous Peoples.'

“I was away in Slovenia that week where, refreshingly (for a Canadian), they don't deny their genocide, or I would have checked out the gala TRC conference, especially the free smorgasbord. I figure John must have chocked up another ten pounds on the first day alone, with all the free food, desserts and booze. Perhaps I’ll write a paper for a learned Canadian journal entitled 'The Correlation of Caloric Intake to Neuron Depletion in Post-Menopausal Academicians.'

“But perhaps I shouldn’t be so hard on Fats. He's just doing the job he’s paid to do, which means the usual government Commission largesse, a good chunk of the $68 million TRC budget, plus, I suppose, all he can eat.

“I did ask a friend to attend the TRC pork fest, and he said he spoke to a South African delegate who had been parachuted in, probably for a few thousand bucks, to speak for a half hour to all the Milloy look-alikes. The delegate looked confused, said my friend.

“'Why is Canada going to so much trouble to create such an obvious pretense?' the South African wondered.

“Big John would have been personally hurt, I warrant, by the foreigner’s remarks, since Milloy takes pride in comparing Canada’s farce with the South African TRC: a comparison that could only emmanate from Trent University or the College of Spring Coulee, Alberta. In South Africa, their investigation into apartheid’s crimes didn’t allow the guilty parties to grant immunity to themselves, as the Canadian government and churches have done for their slaughter of children. And victims were allowed to name the names of the criminals, and even bring charges against them.

“My friend had to leave the conference after less than an hour, so he didn't get past the hors d'oeuvres table. He also missed all the speeches to the few dozen token Indians shipped in - at their own expense - to sit in reverence before the pale faced scholars, who explained to them what their suffering was really all about.

“Outside the warm and lavish conference hall, my friend came across a homeless aboriginal couple digging into a garbage dumpster for some bottles to recycle for fifty cents or so. He offered them a few bucks, but they turned him down. The native man said they preferred to work for it.”

The nub of the whole exercise is rejected by spokesprof Milloy. "To truly argue (he infinitively splits, in true scholarly fashion) that this was a conscious federal policy to wipe out the Indian population genocidally with the cooperation of the Christian churches - the documents don't prove it. The evidence just isn't there."

No kidding. Kevin Annett has produced a 400-page document, working primarily in UBC's own archival stacks, proving the prevalence of tuberculosis-infected blankets, medical experimentation, Canadian and provincial laws at “His Majesty's” instigation ordering the sterilization of hundreds of native people, dozens of personal testimonies and eye-witness accounts of murder, and the existence of at least 28 proven mass gravesites attested to by observers with substantial experience in Kosovo and Rwanda.

And to quote an expert that even Fats Milloy would accept, Professor Anthony Hall of the University of Lethbridge:

"North America represents the most ethnically cleansed part of the world — no other part of the world has been this totally re-engineered." Of course, less informed Canadians constantly aver that our tradition is superior to that John Wayne/Wounded Knee history to the south.

Milloy, and Sinclair, and Indian Affairs Minister John Duncan and Prime Minister Stephen Harper all believe that the whole Indian thing is distressingly complex – that's why it's shuffled off into a Royal Commission – the Canadian way of dealing with complex problems. They think it's – well, sort of a literal smorgasbord.
We prefer to agree with Kahentinetha Horn. She maintains: “We're only 1% of what we once were, before Columbus. So it could all be so simple.”
Just like a Jenny Craig diet.

Dear Dave & Sharon,

Andrew Breitbart is a liar and a race-baiter. His method is to pose as a journalist, and then use deceptive tactics to gin up race-based fears, protect racists, and demonize Black political leaders and institutions.1This is the man caught peddling deceptively edited video of Shirley Sherrod — the Black USDA official who was dismissed as a result of Breitbart's hateful propaganda. No credible news outlet has had Breitbart on since. ABC News rescinded its invitation for him to be a part of its election night coverage (after hearing from ColorOfChange members),2and even Fox has turned its back on him since the Sherrod episode.3

So why is The Huffington Post giving him a platform?Just over a week ago, editors at The Huffington Post gave Breitbart a top spot on their home page, where he again spewed widely debunked lies.4 Then yesterday they did it again. We reached out to Arianna Huffington and other leaders at The Huffington Post to ask why they'd give him cover. Their response? Silence.

Join us in condemning The Huffington Post's actions and demanding that Arianna Huffington and The Huffington Post agree to not elevate Breitbart again given his unfailing race-baiting attacks on our community. This is critical and it takes only a moment. And please invite your friends and family to do the same:

The Huffington Post understands the power of featuring someone on its home page.5 It gives the author credibility and helps them spread their message. To give that placement to someone who has repeatedly shown complete disregard and hostility toward the truth, and who is a serial race-baiter, is irresponsible. It shows a lack of journalistic integrity, and it's frankly an insult to our communities.

Andrew Breitbart targets key people and institutions within our community, in particular those who have dared talk about the reality of racism and race in this country — Shirley Sherrod, the NAACP, President Obama, the Congressional Black Caucus. And he targets those that seek to increase Black political participation, like ACORN, which until Breitbart's fraud-based take-down had the strongest record of registering low-income Black voters in the country. Breitbart's approach is consistent — posing as journalists, he and his team manufacture false stories that work by preying on his viewers' race-based fears to lead them to incorrect conclusions. It's cynical and destructive.

The Huffington Post recently announced that it will be launching "HuffPost Global Black", a site focused on Black issues. It's especially galling that The Huffington Post would seek to attract Black audiences with this new site at the same time that it provides a prominent platform for Breitbart to continue spreading lies that have a real impact on Black people.

The Huffington Post's decision isn't about featuring conservative voices. Many conservative reporters and opinion-makers — like others across the political spectrum — attempt to be truthful and act with integrity. That doesn't mean they're perfect, but Breitbart is cut from a different cloth. He has no regard for honest debate, and conservatives with integrity see Breitbart as an embarrassment, a con-artist.

If The Huffington Post wants to be treated like a trusted source for news and opinion, this behavior needs to stop and we need to be assured that Breitbart will never again be prominently featured on the site. If we don't receive that assurance, then Black America and our allies should abandon The Huffington Post and get our information elsewhere.

Arianna Huffington needs to know that for our communities, this is a slap in the face. Please join us in calling on her to stop allowing her news organization to be a vehicle for Breitbart's deceptions, and demand that Breitbart not be given prominent placement on the site again.

Please tell Arianna Huffington to stop treating Breitbart as a credible commentator, and ask your friends and family to do the same:
