Osiyo,

We hope everyone had a wonderful week. There were many graduation ceremonies this past week. Now graduates find themselves on a new journey in life. We wish them great success. We hope that they will all remember their family, loved ones, and their Cherokee communities as they set out on life’s new journey.

This weekend is a time to remember those loved ones who have gone before us as well as those who gave their lives to protect our country and Nation. We ask that you take the time to give thanks and remember them this Memorial Day.

As many of you remember the men and women who are sacrificing their lives to protect this country, please remember to volunteer a little bit of your time in helping the Cherokee Nation build a place that honors all Cherokee veterans. The Cherokee Nation is seeking volunteers to help build a veteran center. For more information or to sign up today, please visit www.cherokee.org.

Recognizing veterans, friends, family and communities is always a pleasure. One community recently completed a community work project. The Jay community really came together to build a beautiful 9-acre baseball and softball complex. It is amazing to see a community working together to build something that everyone is proud of. See pictures at http://www.cherokee.org/NewsRoom/FullStory/2881/Page/Default.aspx.

We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Hope you enjoy this week’s news.

Wado! (Thank you)
