A unique collaboration between the _Porcupine Singers_
(http://64.38.12.138/my.asp?url=http://porcupinesingers.tripod.com/) , a drum group from the
Pine Ridge Reservation, and the _South Dakota Chamber Orchestra_
(http://64.38.12.138/my.asp?url=http://www.sdsymphony.org/) hits the road this week.
The Lakota Music Project began when orchestra maestro Delta David Gier
wanted to reach out to state residents. "Early on, it became evident the issues
to be addressed were Native American," he told The Sioux Falls Argus
Leader.
The Porcupine Singers entered the picture and the two groups began to work
on some pre-composed pieces. They will share their music at five concerts
this week.
