Posted by Rocky At Causes (cause supporter)
Tell your friends about this
Hello Cause Community,
I would like to introduce you to the new leaders of the End Bear Baiting cause: Tim Martee, Florida Master Naturalist, and Bethany Kaifos, South Carolina resident and animal rights advocate. Both are motivated and excited to lead the campaign to end bear baiting.
Tim is heavily involved in conservation, fundraising, education, awareness, advocacy, and activism. He is involved with "hands on" wildlife rescue that saves the lives of wild animals.  His rescues include a loggerhead turtle, 4 pelicans, osprey, tern, cormorant and a blue jay. Tim is passionate about ending the needless pain and suffering that animals endure at the hands of humans.  Most of what he has done has been for manatees, sharks and bears.
Bethany is a motivated Pre-Veterinary Medicine student in South Carolina and is an advocate for animal rights.  She is passionate about stopping bear baiting and is excited to work with this cause community to stop this appalling practice.
Please comment on this note if you have specific skills or connections that you can contribute to this campaign.

In 50 years of conservation, we have never seen wildlife crime on such a scale. Wildlife crime is now the most urgent threat to three of the world's best-loved species—elephants, rhinos and tigers.
The global value of illegal wildlife trade is between $7.8 and $10 billion per year. It is a major illicit transnational activity worldwide—along with arms, drugs and human trafficking. High-level traders and kingpins are rarely arrested, prosecuted, convicted or punished for their crimes.
Tigers: Every part of the tiger—from whisker to tail—is traded in illegal wildlife markets. Poaching is the most immediate threat to wild tigers. In relentless demand, their parts are used for traditional medicine, folk remedies, and increasingly as a status symbol among wealthy Asians.
African Elephants: Tens of thousands of elephants are killed every year for their ivory tusks. In 1989, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) banned the international trade in ivory. However, there are still some thriving but unregulated domestic ivory markets in a number of countries, which fuel an illegal international trade.
African Rhinos: At least one rhino is killed every day due to the mistaken belief that rhino horn can cure diseases. The main market is now in Vietnam where there is a newly emerged belief that rhino horn cures cancer.
These species cannot survive high levels of poaching for long. Join our campaign to Stop Wildlife Crime and share this video with your community

mnnlogo1                                  THE GRUDGE
MNN.  Jan. 31, 2013. We remember that Canadians elected megalomaniac Stephen Harper as CEO of the Corporation of Canada. His two main goals for the shareholders are to get rid of the landowners, the Indigenous people, once and for all, and to steal our resources for good.
Canada is a hot dictatorship. Harper can enact laws without consulting anyone. He can prorogue Parliament anytime to put the illusion of democracy on hold. He doesn’t have to answer to anybody. Two years ago the people could have pulled the plug on him. They did nothing.
Herr Harper, the crime is genocide!
Herr Harper, the crime is genocide!
Canadians, even though they may not like his genocide strategy, turn a blind eye. They are complicit in the genocide. When will they stop looking away while he puts Canada in all the wars of the black serpent, in Mali, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Egypt, Syria, and so on? Everybody will either end up dead or continue serving the male hierarchy as slaves.
Residential Schools are their monuments to remind us of Canada’s trail towards fascism and mass murder. 50% of our children were killed. Hitler studied and perfected this death camp system with a 100% death rate.
The masses erase from their memory all the crimes committed against us to get what they have today. The thugs of the royal economic crime syndicates are setting up their machinery of global mass murder in Canada because they think Canadians will not resist, “We need the jobs.  We have to follow orders!”
Criminals need the Red Serpent, Atleo, here surrounded by White Serpent.
Criminals need the Red Serpent, Atleo, here surrounded by White Serpent.
Canada has a British Parliamentary system based on hierarchy.  Canada is a Corporation with shareholders [bankers].  Directors [Senators] are appointed to oversee the officers.  The officers [Members of Parliament] manage the day-to-day operation of the corporation to provide ever increasing dividends for the shareholders. The top officers are the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and the Finance Minister. The  directors [the Senators] only report to the shareholders of the corporation [bankers].  None answer to the people, only to the bankers.
The main duty of the officers of the corporation is to provide ever growing profits to the shareholders and to continue the illusion of freedom to the people. Harper often reminds the masses they have no rights, only privileges. Our Great Mother always reminds us to resist!
Too many Heil Harpers is making you sick!
Jim, Too many Heil Harpers is making you sick!
Minister of Finance, Jim “Austerity Measures” Flaherty, is suddenly suffering from a mysterious disease that makes his face look fat. It could be the “Owistah” disease.

FYI:  Poison Mouth/Poison Pen Ezra Levant Must Pay
He's part of the cabal of anti Indigenous writers who get to beak off in the mainstream media all the time.  His cohorts/mentors include Harper advisor, Tom Flanagan and Barry Cooper and who could forget the illiterate Gary McHale.

Blogger Ezra Levant ordered to pay additional $32,500 for libel
Jan 28, 2011 - Posted by Dana Lacey

ShareThisBlogger and free speech activist Ezra Levant has been ordered by the Ontario Superior Court to pay an additional $32,500 in libel to human rights lawyer Giacomo Vigna.

Last November, Levant was ordered to pay $25,000 to Vigna for libel, citing his "reckless indifference" to the truth while writing blog posts about the Canadian Human Rights Commission lawyer.

Levant accused Vigna of lying to the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, tampering with evidence, and suggested he'd been fired, the National Post reports. Justice Robert Smith ruled that Levant "spoke in reckless disregard of the truth and for an ulterior purpose of denormalizing the Human Rights Commission across Canada which makes his statements malicious in that sense."

In the first decision (published November 18, 2010), which you can read here, the judge dismissed some of the claims against Levant, but found that he defamed Vigna six times between March and May 2008. That Levant failed to check facts or seek Vigna's side of the story meant that he could not claim the new libel defence, introduced by the Supreme Court late last year, of "responsible communication on a matter of public interest."

In his newest decision, dated January 26, Justice Smith writes:

"Levant actively published the defamatory statements about Vigna as part of his campaign to denormalize the Human Rights Commissions, which was for another purpose and as a result, this amounted to malicious conduct on Levant's parts. I find that costs should be assessed on a substantial indemnity basis because Levant published defamatory statements about Vigna for an ulterior purpose and his actions were malicious…"

The judge also notes that the "legal issues involved in a defamation action are more complex than the typical lawsuit." He explains:

"A libel trial involves findings of defamation as well as consideration of the defences potentially applicable to each of the publications, including justification, fair comment, and whether the publications are protected by the defence of communication on a matter of public interest."

The Court also concluded that Levant was responsible for some of the complexity of the trial and larger-than-usual legal costs because 23 of his posts were under scrutiny. Vigna told the court that he sought more money in order to pay his lawyers' fees, which totalled more than $26,000.

The two decisions combined require Levant to pay Vigna $57,500, a direct result of his blog posts. The National Post reports that Levant plans to seek an appeal.

MNN.  Feb. 1, 2013.  In the 1770’s Joseph Brant was one of the most prominent traitors of the Mohawks. In 1804 he was kicked out of the Iroquois Confederacy by the people. He committed treason and treachery to help the British try to wipe out the Mohawk Nation. He helped take down the Tree of Peace and put in its place the US constitution of war.  Joseph Brant died alone in 1807 in his mansion in Burlington Ontario. Two years earlier he murdered his own son. That’s the end he deserved. According to Wampum 58 of the law of the land, when the pine tree is chopped down, his voice is never to be heard by the people ever again.
It would be a really good idea to listen to your Women now!
Brant died alone because of his treachery to his people [right].
Canadian Senator Brazeau is Harper’s poster boy to add an Indian face to the appointed Senate. He said that though Idle No More has put aboriginal issues in the news, he does not support their methods. “They don’t stand for anything,” he said. “I, as an Algonquin person, am living proof that no one will colonize me.”  [LOL].
Brazeau, like all other Senators, reports to the shareholders [bankers]. He makes sure the band and tribal council chiefs are good Indians, who push the global agenda. The omnibus bills were written by the Senators. He lobbies for these bills to be passed. These bills are meant to relinquish our existence and our title to our land and resources. He helps the economic royalists, who are accelerating the extraction of our resources for their global war economy.
Brazeau is not an Algonquin. Both his feet are out of the canoe. He took an oath to the Queen of England and forfeited his native identity. In fact, he colonized himself. His women should remind him of this fact. He adopted new customs, language and ideologies.  He is indistinguishable from the white culture he represents.
The wannabe Holly wood Indian is supposed to lull our young people into wanting to become a traitor like him. He is helping the economic royalist bankers steal our land and the ever-growing $4 trillion Indian Trust Fund stashed in Indian Affairs in Ottawa. Mark Carney, former Governor of the Bank of Canada, is trying to siphon the loot over to the banker royalist syndicate in England. INTERPOL is now investigating him.
Brazeau, as Hank Williams advised:  “Your cheatin’ heart will pine some day, and crave the love your threw away.  The time will come when you’ll be blue.  Your cheatin’ heart will tell on you.”

FYI:  In our area, near the mighty Mississippi River that flows into the Ottawa River, we notice many small trees are dead.  They break off quite easily leaving the ground bare and exposed to sunlight where there should be forest.  The bigger older trees like the maples are all rotten in the middle.  There are very few birch trees and the pine trees don't look so well either.

Please send your personal reports from your area.  We will compile a selection to post to the list.  You can remain anonymous, we just need to know your approximate location.

'Just the Beginning': US Drought Kills Hundreds of Thousands of Trees
Persistent lack of water continues to ravage US, threatening trees and crops nationwide, with no end in sight
- Lauren McCauley, staff writer

The historic drought of 2012, which continues to ravage over half of the contiguous US, has a new legacy: the death of hundreds of thousands of trees across the Midwest.

An Iowa tree waits for rain. (Photo: iowa_spirit_walker via Flickr) "This is just beginning," said Purdue University plant pathologist Janna Beckerman. "I suspect we'll see trees still dying for the next two or three years." According to Beckerman, "Indiana's white cedar and Florida cypress trees began dying in late summer [...] and Alberta and Colorado blue spruce are succumbing now."

The latest Drought Monitor shows that 58% of the contiguous US remains in moderate or greater drought, with this past January month considered "the worst" since the Monitor began 13 years ago, said climatologist Mark Svoboda.

“We are going to be talking about drought for much of 2013 as little relief is being projected,” seconded Brian Fuchs, climatologist with the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska. “A lot of areas are going to go into this spring planting season with a deficit. We are seeing it already with winter wheat, and it is going to continue unless we see changes.

Drought is one of the most costly natural disasters affecting the U.S. The National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) was established in 2006 (NIDIS Act) to help begin to move society from a reactive response to drought to a proactive stance.  NIDIS was envisioned to be a dynamic and accessible drought information system that provides users with the ability to determine the potential impacts of drought and the associated risks they bring, and the decision support tools needed to better prepare for and mitigate the effects of drought.  In this, NIDIS forms the backbone of a national Drought Early Warning System and the U.S. Drought Portal is the public face of NIDIS on the Web.__________________________

My Super Bowl story

February 3, 2013. It’s Super Bowl Sunday again, the time when the masses are lulled into watching grown men play a boys game. We pay these men more per/hour than everyone else so what does that say about our society? In 1989 I attended the Super Bowl at Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami to watch Joe Montana and Boomer Esiason in a great game that landed Jerry Rice the MVP. The better part of the story is how I ended up sitting in the private box of the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1st place.
In 1988 Ben Johnson had won the Gold Medal in the 100M race against Carl Lewis and every Canadian was thrilled until the I.O.C. stripped him of his medal and record, a few days later. At that time I was working as a “Head-hunter” for a succesful Agency in Toronto and I said to my partner “we have to help Ben” and he agreed. We went up to his house in Markham and recruited him under the eye of the world media. ben
In our first meeting with Ben at the “Four Seasons” restaurant in Yorkville, I asked him what he wanted to do next and he said Football. We recruited a few guys from the Argos(Danny Barrett, Dwight Edwards, Chris Schulz) to help train Ben as he had never played before. Humber College let us use their indoor facility and we started to train Ben. At the same time I had been busy talking with various NFL teams to garner the interest in Ben.
There was great interest in Ben Johnson amongst the people I talked with but I was leaning toward Tex Schramm and the Cowboys. I talked with Tex many times on the phone and he started to brush me off to his Director of Player Personnel Gil Brandt but the last thing I said to Tex was “I’ll see you at the Superbowl.”
My partner and I travelled to Miami a week before the game to assess the situation. We were running into a wall on the corporate side of things as the president of GM Canada said “we do not want to be associated with Ben until he sorts out his predicament.” We flew Ben in a couple days before the game and the fun started. I post an article from the Toronto Star saying “Miami not so Super, for Big Ben” and it has a picture of me (in the Fedora) with Ben and Miss Jamaica Janelle.January25,1989F02
Then came game day so we headed down to the stadium and to the “corporate Tent City” entrance where a police-man let us go in to get tickets after Ben gave him an autograph. With those tickets we walked up the red carpet to the “Private Box” entrance area where the attendant said “I cant let you in here with these tickets” then Ben gave her an autograph and we were in.
Now we were wandering through the  common area when Billy Joel was being announced to sing the national anthem. Ben, Janelle and Dwayne went out to the stairwell to watch and I walked up where the Box entrances were to locate the Cowboys box. Then I gathered them all and we went to the wrong door where  a policeman said “this is Leonard Toews box, of the Eagles” I told him to say that Ben Johnson was here and he closed the door. When it opened there was Doctor J (Julius Irving) whom immediately hugged Ben and we were all in.
It was a very nice setting and group so Ben gave them all autographs and we settled in to watch a nail-biter. At half-time we went back to the “rich guys” common area and spotted O.J. Simpson so we ran after him and he called Ben “Mr. Run” he gave me his number and agreed to help Ben. On our way back to the box we ran into Chuck Knox of the Seattle Seahawks. He shook Ben’s hand and said “that was the greatest race I ever saw”. Then I knocked on Tex Schramm’s door and Tex came out looking shocked. I told him “I told you I would see you at the game” he had Tom Landry and Gil behind him and gave us the same corporate brush-off that GM did. We proceeded back to the Eagles box and finished watching the game.
What I learned from this experience was the way the ultra-rich play is much different than you and I. Their game is “people-control” and they use the teams the same way the Roman emperors used the Gladiators.  When future historians are studying our culture they will be puzzled how we let social- history repeat in so many ways.
Our national game is Tewaraton (lacrosse) and it is “creator’s game” it is used for much different purposes than mind control. May Peace become you. Enjoy the Game

Fighting the Nuclear Madness

AIMer John Trudell stated over 40 years ago that nuclear war is now being waged against us.  Never mind the threat from nuclear bombs.  All the nuclear waste is an attack on humanity.  Nuclear reactors are made to produce weaponable materials for perpetual wars of depopulation.

Here's the link to Brenda Norrell's web site featuring videos of a protest in Toronto against GE Hitachi's nuclear plant.  (Hey, that's the neighbourhood where i grew up!)  It was poison 50 years ago and getting worse now.  "Big Up" to all the People who stood out in the cold to expose Nuclear Madness.

VIDEO First Nation Nuclear Rail Blockade Feb 3, 2013

Google and other media elitists are blocking this information.  It is important. Please circulate!

We wrote about the goings on at GE Hitachi in an Eagle Watch October, 2009 article, "Stop the Expansion of Peterborough Nukes: No More Nuclear Madness":

"GEHitachi also have facilities in downtown Toronto on Lansdowne Avenue where they have been testing and manufacturing nuclear products for over 50 years and in Arnprior.  Hitachi, a Japanese firm and GE General Electric merged their nuclear departments in 2007 to consolidate their global nuclear reactor business.  Another Japanese firm, Toshiba recently bought Westinghouse who also make reactors.  It's some kind of feeding frenzy."

Details of the Toronto operation are included in our work, "A Calamity Threatens Your Happiness" self published in 2010.  Chapter Two deals with the nuclear topic.

Bill would hand power to First Nations

Posted by Tjay Henhawk (cause founder)
Tell your friends about this
NDP MP Romeo Saganash has introduced a private member's bill, C-469, that would require the government of Canada to take all measures necessary to "ensure that the laws of Canada are consistent with the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples that was adopted by the General Assembly."
This bill is ostensibly supported by the NDP seemingly without much thought of the implications this legislation would have on Canadian democracy and the economy.
Article 19 of the UN Declaration would require Canada to obtain "free, prior and informed consent" before adopting and implementing legislative or administrative measures that may affect First Nations. The word "consent" implies a veto power by First Nations over legislation that has been passed in our elected Parliament.
This legislation effectively hands most legislative power to First Nation leaders and the courts. Does the NDP want legislation passed by Parliament to also be passed by a First Nation institution before implementation? How does the NDP see this playing out?
The bill would also seem to tear apart the resource development framework for traditional lands.
In Canada, First Nations have reservations that they own (or are held by the Crown as fiduciary). First Nations people often will use nearby traditional territories for treaty protected activities such as hunting, fishing and trapping. The Crown controls traditional territories and can develop them, subject to the "duty to consult" as outlined by the Supreme Court in Mikisew Cree First Nation v. Canada (2005). The Supreme Court was very clear that the "duty to consult" does not mean veto power (also see the Haida decision concerning Crown activities on land subject to a possible claim of aboriginal title).
Article 26 of the UN Declaration provides that First Nations have the right to the lands, territories and resources they have "traditionally owned, occupied or otherwise used or acquired," which includes the right to "own, use, develop and control the lands, territories and resources." Does this clause mean that aboriginal traditional lands that were ceded by treaty revert back to the First Nations? Are they now entitled to compensation if the government has built a highway, or allowed a mine on traditional land? Does the Crown now need to remove the highway or close the mine? What is the purpose of Canada's treaties?
NDP leader Thomas Mulcair and his party need to clarify their positions on this legislation. Does the NDP think this legislation is good for the country? The legislation would seem to create much uncertainty and hinder Canada's economic development. No doubt it would be a bonanza for lawyers, consultants, anthropologists and historians.
