BP chief Tony Hayward sold shares weeks before oil spill --The chief executive of BP sold £1.4 million of his shares in the fuel giant weeks before the Gulf of Mexico oil spill gusher caused its value to collapse. 05 Jun 2010 Tony Hayward cashed in about a third of his holding in the company one month before a well on the Deepwater Horizon rig burst, causing an environmental disaster. Mr Hayward, whose pay package is £4 million a year, then paid off the mortgage on his family’s mansion in Kent, which is estimated to be valued at more than £1.2 million. There is no suggestion that he acted improperly or had prior knowledge that the company was to face the biggest setback in its history. His decision, however, means he avoided losing more than £423,000 when BP’s share price plunged after the oil spill began six weeks ago. [I am starting to think false flag. If that is the case, we had better hear calls for the second American Revolution. As it is, I am wondering why BP's HQ are *still standing.* --LRP]
U.S. 'secret war' expands globally as Special Operations forces take larger role 04 Jun 2010 The Obama administration has significantly expanded a largely secret U.S. war against al-Qaeda and other radical groups, according to senior military and administration officials. Special Operations forces have grown both in number and budget, and are deployed in 75 countries, compared with about 60 at the beginning of last year... Plans exist for preemptive or retaliatory strikes in numerous places around the world, meant to be put into action when a plot has been identified, or after an attack linked to a specific group.
Obama Picks Bush Under Secretary as Director of Intelligence 04 Jun 2010 President Obama has picked Lt. Gen. James R. Clapper Jr. to become the next director of national intelligence. Mr. Obama plans to announce his selection on Saturday, a senior official said. General Clapper would replace Adm. Dennis C. Blair, whom the president forced to resign last month. General Clapper, who retired after 32 years in the Air Force in 1995, was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2007 as under secretary of defense for intelligence, overseeing the broad array of military intelligence assets. He was kept on when Mr. Obama assumed the presidency. He simultaneously serves as director of defense intelligence, reporting directly to the director of national intelligence, so he has direct familiarity with the office he would assume.
